We are honored to host the twenty-first international conference on Solid-State Protonic Conductors (SSPC-21) in Fukuoka, Japan, to continue the tradition of this esteemed conference. SSPC has been a conference dedicated to the fundamental research on proton and related ion motions in ceramics, salts, polymers, and glasses, as well as their physics, measurements, theory, and devices. These are the fundamental knowledge that can foster world energy transition towards carbon neutrality in 2050. We will keep the tradition and inspire you with the cultural experiences in Japan.

SSPC-21 will be held in person. Many of us realized the limitations of online conferences since the pandemic started in 2020. We hope you will take full advantages of this opportunity to gather in Fukuoka, meet new people, share new ideas, and have fruitful discussions. For these aims, Fukuoka is the best place. Fukuoka locates in the southwest of Japan, Kyushu, which has functioned as a gateway to the world since around 3rd century BC. This area is known as the birthplace of porcelain in the 16th century in Japan and supported Japan’s modern industrialization through coal mining and steel production at the beginning of the 20th century, leading to a unique culture. The authentic Japanese cuisine will also give you inspirations.

We look forward to seeing you and having a wonderful time with you in SSPC-21, Fukuoka.
